Hayesdown celebrates all aspects of music as a means of communication and enjoyment through the development of musical knowledge, skills and understanding. We make music an enjoyable learning experience, building the confidence of children in their singing, listening, appreciation and composing of music.
During their music lessons, as well as studying music from around the world, children develop and build on their skills in all elements of music through engaging and interactive lessons including pulse, pitch, rhythm, dynamics, tempo, timbre, structure, texture and notation.
Music at Hayesdown supports positive mental health and well-being by developing self-reflection, creativity and collaboration with others in lessons, clubs and other musical events such as concerts and festivals across the Trust. Learning an instrument through Somerset Music at Hayesdown will be an option in our future plans this year, but currently we offer 2 choirs and a recorder club for those who are interested.
