Striving for excellence together

Remembrance Service

A very special Remembrance Service

We were all incredibly proud of our wonderful children and how they took part in our school’s commemoration of 100 years since the end of the First World War. The response from the home learning challenge was breath-taking – with some extremely creative and original poppies in all shapes and sizes. We were able to display these in the hall and classrooms and they created a spectacular backdrop when we all gathered in the hall for an assembly and one minute’s silence. Children shared their letters and postcards that they had been writing this week, thinking of how it might feel for a solider returning from war. Our school council pupils laid a poppy wreath, Year 4 pupils read “In Flanders Fields” and the whole school joined together to sing “We will remember”. Thank you to all parents who supported their children by encouraging them to create a poppy and talk about why we wear them. Once again, a wonderful example of our excellent school community.
