A Garden For Bees – Planted By Year 1 Pupils & Their Parents

Posted on: 15th May 2018

Thank you Year 1 for your commitment to making our school groups look beautiful and providing habitats that support wildlife to thrive.

At a special ‘Bee Friendly Party’ to celebrate the end of their project on bees, pupils in Year 1 took pride in sharing their bee dance, poetry, artwork and writing, and particularly enjoyed special honey cake, which they had made.

The children also worked in partnership with their parents, to plant a range of flowers that will be in full bloom over the next 2 terms, encouraging bees and other insects to visit. The icing on the cake was the arrival of Mr Rawlings, a local beekeeper who had visited pupils at the start of the project to help them learn about bees, their important work and the challenges they are facing.

We are very grateful to parents who kindly supported the children to grow plants at home to put in the garden. Doesn’t it look lovely?
