British Athletes Visit Hayesdown Through ‘Super Schools’

Posted on: 31st January 2015

Pupils at Hayesdown First School showed great support for young British athletes during a Super Schools event organised to raise money for upcoming British athletes who do not yet qualify for national funding.

Children completed a four part circuit consisting of bench steps, jumping jacks, squat thrusts and press-ups and had the opportunity to meet and have their photograph taken with Jazmin Sawyer, British track and field athlete.

The atmosphere in the hall was extremely positive as children went through the circuits supported by Year 4 pupils who helped lead the event and cheered on by Mr Moore and British triple jumper, Julian Golley who won the gold medal at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Canada.

In addition to having great fun and meeting talented sportsmen and women, pupils have the opportunity to earn bronze, silver and gold medals for obtaining sponsorship to the value of £10, £20 or £30.  We look forward to seeing them receive their medals!
