iPads And Geolocation Texts Inspire Pupils In Hedgehogs Class

Posted on: 15th January 2015

Thanks to a grant from the Shine Project, Year 2 pupils in Hedgehogs will spend six days working with storyteller Christopher Jelley and Literacy Teacher, Claire Vowell from Norton St. Philip School.  Over the six days they will operate in small teams to plan and write stories that have chapters set in different physical locations.  The children will put their stories into iPads using StoryWalk software, giving each chapter its own real-world geographic location.  The real fun comes when children walk a story route they have planned and written instructions for, and one by one, the sections of their stories drop into the iPads as they reach the geolocation they have linked to that part of their story!

When the children’s stories are complete, we plan to invite parents in to share pupils’ work.
