Hayesdown First School

Striving for excellence together

Light the Night!

Posted on: 2nd December 2018

On Friday evening a group of Hayesdown children, parents and grandparents, accompanied by Mrs Battersby and Mrs Lane, took part in the spectacular “Light the Night” lantern parade through Frome town centre.

Our Year 3 children had worked alongside local artists to create beautiful willow and tissue paper lanterns in their classrooms. These were then transported to St John’s church which was the starting point of the event.

Hundreds of people lined the streets as all the local schools processed along the high street, carrying their lanterns, shining high in the night sky. The effect was stunning, and the children were true ambassadors for our school as they displayed excellent behaviour and team work. We saw lots of other Hayesdown children and families along the way, some of whom had created their own lanterns at community events or at home.

It’s now definitely “beginning to look a lot like Christmas” and we look forward to everyone joining us for the first of our festive events at the

PTA Christmas Fayre on Friday 7th December 3.30pm – 5.00pm.
