Hayesdown First School

Striving for excellence together

Remembering Queen Elizabeth ll

Posted on: 9th September 2022

Hayesdown First School joined together today in a special assembly to remember the life of the Queen and mourn her death. We thought about her life of service and duty to our country and the Commonwealth and gave thanks for the special role she has played in all our lives for the past 70 years.

Using the knowledge of the Queen that we had gained during the recent Platinum Jubilee celebration, we reflected on her achievements and the milestones of her reign. Following a video clip from CBBC Newsround, we said a prayer and for one final time sang as a school, God save the Queen.

Finally we recognised that we have a new monarch, King Charles 111, and thought about how he may be feeling at this moment, as well as the rest of the Royal Family.

The children of Hayesdown, as always, were reflective and respectful. They wrote down their comments and thoughts which were then used to create a special display; in loving memory of Queen Elizabeth 11.
