World Book Day

Posted on: 20th March 2022

On Thursday the 3rd of March, all of the pupils at Hayesdown School participated very ENTHUSIASTICALLY in World Book Day! It was a jam packed day, but everyone had a great time, with some children CONFIDENTLY dressing up as their favourite book characters or bringing in accessories to represent them. Even the some of the teachers joined in too!

As part of the World Book Day festivities, the children participated in a book swap, created a story jar, as well as bedtime stories, we also had a cake sale to as an extra event to support the new library.

There was also a special World Book Day assembly and a ‘Guess who was behind the book quiz’ where the children had to guess which teacher was hiding behind their story book, which was challenging and AMBITIOUS.

We saw many wonderfully decorated jars, with some very creative ideas to represent their favourite story, with  the best ones being picked to be displayed in the new library.

The school afternoon then ended with a book swap, where children got to exchange a pre-loved book for something new and exciting to read at bedtime.

“We made a scene from a story in a jar, I did Matilda because I was Matilda!” – Grace, Year 4

“The best bit was I got to dress up as Rapunzel!” – Charlotte, Year R
