Year 4 Pupils Support the Rotary Club’s ‘Purple For Polio’ Campaign

Posted on: 15th November 2017

The cold, crisp weather on 14th November didn’t deter Year 4 pupils from joining Frome Rotarians to plant hundreds of purple crocuses in the grass banks outside Frome Medical Practice. The purple crocuses serve to remind passers-by of the 25 year world-wide campaign, led by Rotary, to eliminate polio. Money raised by Frome Rotarians has helped to pay for the immunisation programmes in affected countries. When the “End Polio” campaign started thousands of children across the world were crippled by the disease every year. Now it is just single figures, in two countries.

The children plan to return in the spring to see the wonder and beauty of their work and at the same time, will hold a fundraising event to continue the work to completely irradiate this disease. Well done everyone!
