To launch their project, “Super Senses”, Year 1 had a morning to remember. Mrs Kennedy brought in our school dog, Beatrice and her two other dogs called Evelyn and Millie; all springer spaniels. The children had the chance to meet the dogs and make friends, using their senses to describe them as ‘very soft’ and ‘furry and smooth’.
Mrs Kennedy explained that dogs’ super sense is their sense of smell. She demonstrated this with some tricky tasks for the dogs; the dogs had to find pieces of chicken hidden under cones, in boxes and even rolled up in a towel. Beatrice, Millie and Evelyn achieved perfect scores and showed fantastic resilience – one of our learning behaviours!
