At Hayesdown First School, we recognise the importance of Science in everyday life. As a school we strive for our children to develop an understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science. We achieve this through immersing and enthusing them in a variety of rich and varied scientific enquiries, enabling them to analyse, conclude and make accurate predictions. We endeavour to offer our children real life and hands on experiences, which ultimately increases their confidence and supports them to be responsible scientists.
At Hayesdown First School, in conjunction with the aims of the National Curriculum, our Science teaching offers opportunities for children to be ambitious in their learning:
RESPONSIBLE: | Children take on individual responsibilities for planning, carrying out and evaluating their own experiments. |
ENTHUSIASTIC: | Children are immersed and engaged in hands on, practical experiences. |
AMBITIOUS: | Children are ambitious in their understanding and application of new skills and knowledge |
CONFIDENT: | Children gain confidence in voicing their thoughts and working alongside their peers. |
HAPPY & HEALTHY: | Children are happy learning practically and becoming their own scientist. |
